Local Consultations

The Garthamlock, Craigend & Gartloch Community Council acknowledges the significance of local consultations in fostering community engagement and decision-making processes. These consultations entail the collection of input, opinions, and feedback from local residents and community organisations regarding matters directly affecting the community.

As a Community Council, our primary duty is to diligently determine the perspectives and viewpoints of the broader community before presenting any representations or advocating for the community’s interests. With a majority of our council members being local residents themselves, we possess an advantageous position to comprehend and represent the concerns of the community effectively.

To effectively fulfil our role as representatives, the Community Council has established robust working relationships with residents, local organisations, public sector entities such as the police, fire, and health services, as well as local government. This involves fostering open channels of communication, actively seeking input from the community, and engaging in constructive dialogues with relevant stakeholders. Through these relationships, the Community Council strives to ensure that the community’s interests and aspirations are adequately expressed.

Overall, local consultations and the pivotal role of Community Councils are indispensable for promoting participatory democracy, empowering local communities, and ensuring that decisions with an impact on the community are made in consultation with and with the consent of the community.
