Today, we rolled up our sleeves and made a big impact in Garthamlock!
Thanks to the hard work of our amazing volunteers and the support of the community, we completed a successful clean-up along Gartloch Road, the open spaces at the back entrance of Glasgow Fort, and sections of Coxton Place.
A massive shoutout to all the residents and community councillors who joined us,ย Councillor Sharon Greer for her support, and the incredibleย 56th Glasgow Scout Groupย for lending a hand. Together, we collected a whopping 18 bags of litter in just 1 hour!ย
Thank you all for your hard work and support. Further volunteers would be greatly appreciated in the future as we work to improve our local communitiesย

If you witness any suspicious behaviour or are aware of any crimes, we urge you to report them through the appropriate channels. By doing so, you contribute to deterring future criminal activities and enhancing the quality of life for everyone.
๐ Here are several methods to report incidents:
1๏ธโฃ ๐๐ข๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐จ๐ซ ๐ง๐จ๐ง-๐๐ฆ๐๐ซ๐ ๐๐ง๐๐ข๐๐ฌ: If the crime is not occurring at the moment or poses no immediate risk to life or personal safety.
Remember, you have the right to remain anonymous when reporting. No detail is too small; every piece of information helps in creating positive change within our local community.
Your cooperation is invaluable in making our community a better place for everyone.
We’ve been informed that not enough reports are reaching Glasgow City Council, leaving our local infrastructure and community issues inaccurately represented. While we appreciate reports to Elected Members and the Community Council, we also need your help in logging these issues by also using the MyGlasgow app for accurate data and positive community change.

Let’s ensure a safe and enjoyable Bonfire Night! ๐
Fireworks and bonfires can pose serious safety risks, impacting our communities. To address this, a joint effort involving Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, Glasgow City Council, Police Scotland, and more partner agencies has established a protocol for identifying, reporting, and removing unsafe bonfires. Their goal is to reduce the misuse of fireworks and ensure public safety.
๐ฏ Their Aims: Decrease public area bonfires and deliberate fire setting. Minimise reckless firework use and identify those responsible.
๐ฏ Their Objectives: Identify locations with unsafe bonfires. Identify illegal firework possession and sales. Educate young people about firework safety.
Bonfire Safety Tips: ๐ก Keep bonfires away from buildings, trees, and power lines. ๐ซ Never use flammable liquids to ignite bonfires. ๐บ Avoid alcohol if you’re tending to a bonfire. ๐ฅ Use untreated wood for bonfires and avoid throwing fireworks on them.
๐ซ Remember the Law: It’s illegal to lay or light a fire in a public place endangering others. Possession and use of fireworks by those under 18 is unlawful. Fireworks can only be used between 6 pm and 11 pm (except for 5th November).
๐ Be mindful of pets and people with sensory sensitivities!
Full details of the initiative can be found below alongside key contact numbers for those who have concerns around the misuse of fireworks ๐๐ฝ
