Members of the Community Council met with Orbit Communications yesterday to discuss the Gartloch Gardens development. We made sure that all previous community feedback from earlier consultations was highlighted. We also checked that the Local Place Plan was used as part of the development process, and it was confirmed that this has been taken into account.
If you would like to give your own feedback to the developer, you can do this online at: https://gartlochgardens.com/ or by emailing: hello@gartlochgardens.com
See some photos attached from the session. All exhibition boards can also be viewed clearly on the website at: Gartloch-Gardens-Boards-digital.pdf

Weโve been informed that Craigend Post Office closed unexpectedly on Friday 6 March 2026 due to operational reasons. This late notification is deeply troubling, especially given how vital this branch is for residents who rely on local postal services, banking access, and everyday essentials.
The Post Office has said they are working to restore services, but no reopening date has been provided. In the meantime, they have directed customers to alternative branches in Millerston and Ruchazie.
As a community, we know how important this facility is โ particularly for older residents, people with mobility challenges, and anyone who depends on having services close to home. Losing it, even temporarily, has a real impact.

We would like to remind you that the next community council meeting is scheduled forย Tuesday 24 February 2026, from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM. This is an opportunity for us to come together and discuss matters that affect our community.
Your presence and participation are highly appreciated, so please make an effort to attend.
The meeting will be held atย GESH Community Centre, 1 Redcastle Square, Garthamlock, G33 5EG. Your input is vital to the success of our community.
If youโre unable to attend in person but would like to raise a matter for discussion, feel free to reach out to us at secretarygcg.cc@gmail.com. We value your thoughts and want to ensure that everyone has a chance to be heard.
Following our previous update in October 2025, weโre pleased to share the next stage of progress on the Craigend Civic Space.
Through the community survey, you told us that youโd like a semi-formal, social green space with life and colour.
We understood that inclusivity was important to you and that providing a place for everyone should be at the forefront of the design. We felt a strong sense from participants, that a sense of place and identity was missing, and that this could be created through murals, signage, colour and lighting.
These community priorities have been pulled together in a zoning plan which forms the basis of our developing proposals which we are looking forward to sharing with you over the coming weeks.
Weโre encouraging local residents from all backgrounds, ages, and experiences to consider standing in our upcoming interim election, where we have 2 vacant seats available. Bringing in new members helps broaden representation and viewpoints and ensures the council reflects the full diversity of our community.
Since being reโestablished, the Community Council has been hugely successful, securing major investment for the area and delivering real improvements that benefit everyone. If youโd like to be part of this progress, now is the perfect time to get involved.
Whether youโre interested in just joining as a member or even considering taking on an office bearer role, weโre here to support you every step of the way.
๐ Nomination forms close on 20/01/2026, so please submit your application to Glasgow City Council before this date.
