Engaging the Community: Garthamlock, Craigend, and Gartloch Take a Stand Against Litter

In a united effort to combat litter and improve the overall cleanliness of our local neighbourhood, the Garthamlock, Craigend, and Gartloch Community Council recognised the importance of active community participation. Understanding the significance of a cleaner environment, we requested the establishment of a community litter pick hub in Garthamlock. Through a collaborative partnership with GESH, the local community centre, our vision became a reality.

The Community Litter Pick Hub
Located in the heart of the communities the council represents, the community litter pick hub is now operational at GESH Community Centre. While plans are underway to expand the initiative to Craigend and Gartloch, this central location ensures accessibility for all residents, encouraging maximum participation.

Our First Community Litter Pick Event
The recent completion of our inaugural community litter pick event in Garthamlock marked an inspiring milestone. Within just one hour, a dedicated group of volunteers managed to collect an impressive 16 bags of litter from problem areas throughout the neighbourhood. The impact was immediately visible, and local residents were quick to commend the group’s efforts.
