Prioritising Mental Health: Free Mat-Based Yoga Sessions Sponsored by Garthamlock, Craigend, and Gartloch Community Council

In the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic and the ongoing challenges of the cost-of-living crisis, it became increasingly evident to the Garthamlock, Craigend, and Gartloch Community Council that addressing mental health concerns was of utmost importance. As a result, the council took a proactive step towards supporting residents by funding a series of mat-based yoga sessions. In collaboration with YoGlasgow, a local yoga provider, these sessions aimed to improve the physical, emotional, and mental well-being of the community members. Best of all, these sessions were offered free of charge over an 8-week period throughout May – July 2023.

Recognising the Importance of Mental Health Post-COVID

We partnered with YoGlasgow, a trusted local yoga provider with experienced instructors, to provide high-quality sessions catering to individuals of all fitness levels and experience. These sessions were designed to enhance physical fitness, emotional balance, and mental well-being.

Providing Free Sessions for All Residents
The community council firmly believed that everyone in the community should have equal access to activities promoting well-being, regardless of their financial circumstances. Therefore, the Garthamlock, Craigend, and Gartloch Community Council proudly offered these mat-based yoga sessions free of charge. This initiative reflected our commitment to the well-being and resilience of the community, ensuring that all residents had the opportunity to participate and benefit from the sessions.
