Notice: Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Ordinary Meeting on 17 October 2023

It’s that time of year again when we come together to discuss the matters that concern our community. We are pleased to announce that our Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Ordinary Meeting for the year 2023 will be held on 17 October 2023, from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM.

What is the Annual General Meeting (AGM)?

The AGM is a crucial event where we provide you with an overview of the past year’s achievements, challenges, and financial reports. It’s an opportunity for you, the residents, to voice your opinions, ask questions, and participate in the decision-making process that shapes our community’s future. Your input is invaluable, and we encourage all residents to attend.

Ordinary Meeting Agenda:

In addition to the AGM, the Ordinary Meeting will address important community matters, share updates on ongoing projects, and allow for open discussions on various topics. This is your chance to stay informed and actively contribute to the betterment of our local area.

Addressing Community Concerns: Taking Action Against the Surge in Crime

In a recent community council meeting held on 29 August 2023, several concerned residents came forward to voice their worries about a growing surge in crime throughout our community. The alarming increase in house break-ins and car thefts has left many residents feeling vulnerable and anxious about their safety.

Recognising the urgency of the situation, the community council has taken proactive steps to address these concerns. Following extensive discussions during the meeting, the community council has issued a formal letter addressed to all elected members representing Ward 21. This letter includes our Local Councillors, constituency MSP, regional MSPs, and MP.

Electric vehicle (EV) charging points have been installed at Garthamlock Shops on Redcastle Square, marking a significant step towards embracing sustainable transportation. This development not only promotes the use of electric vehicles but also offers local residents the convenience of charging their EVs within their own community. It’s a positive sign that someone has taken note of the community’s advocacy for these charging points and acted upon it.

Learn Life-Saving Skills with St Andrews First Aid: Defibrillator and CPR Training Session

We are excited to announce an upcoming opportunity for local residents of Garthamlock, Craigend, and Gartloch to acquire essential life-saving skills. St Andrews First Aid is hosting a special training session on Tuesday, 15 August 2023, from 6pm to 7pm. The session will take place at the GESH Community Centre, located at 1 Redcastle Square, Garthamlock, G33 5EG.

Thanks to the proactive efforts of the community council, a defibrillator has been acquired for the Garthamlock area. To ensure that residents are well-prepared to respond in emergencies, St Andrews First Aid is providing comprehensive defibrillator and basic CPR training. This session is a fantastic opportunity for individuals to gain the knowledge and confidence needed to potentially save a life.

We want to inform you that the upcoming Community Council meeting scheduled for Tuesday, 25th July 2023, has been cancelled due to the summer recess.

With many of our community councillors going on holiday, it was decided to give everyone a well-deserved break during this time. However, rest assured that we remain committed to addressing any local issues or queries that may arise during the summer.
