In a recent community council meeting held on 29 August 2023, several concerned residents came forward to voice their worries about a growing surge in crime throughout our community. The alarming increase in house break-ins and car thefts has left many residents feeling vulnerable and anxious about their safety.

Recognising the urgency of the situation, the community council has taken proactive steps to address these concerns. Following extensive discussions during the meeting, the community council has issued a formal letter addressed to all elected members representing Ward 21. This letter includes our Local Councillors, constituency MSP, regional MSPs, and MP.

Learn Life-Saving Skills with St Andrews First Aid: Defibrillator and CPR Training Session

We are excited to announce an upcoming opportunity for local residents of Garthamlock, Craigend, and Gartloch to acquire essential life-saving skills. St Andrews First Aid is hosting a special training session on Tuesday, 15 August 2023, from 6pm to 7pm. The session will take place at the GESH Community Centre, located at 1 Redcastle Square, Garthamlock, G33 5EG.

Thanks to the proactive efforts of the community council, a defibrillator has been acquired for the Garthamlock area. To ensure that residents are well-prepared to respond in emergencies, St Andrews First Aid is providing comprehensive defibrillator and basic CPR training. This session is a fantastic opportunity for individuals to gain the knowledge and confidence needed to potentially save a life.

Tackling Dog Fouling in Garthamlock, Craigend and Gartloch: Residents’ Call to Action

Residents in Garthamlock, Craigend and Gartloch are alarmed by the increasing incidents of dog fouling across the community. Dog fouling is not only an offense under the Dog Fouling (Scotland) Act 2003 but can also lead to a ยฃ100 fine for the dog owner or responsible person. Glasgow City Council has a legal obligation to address this issue in designated areas, as specified by the Litter (Animal Droppings) Order 1991 of the Environmental Protection Act (1990).
