In the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic and the ongoing challenges of the cost-of-living crisis, it became increasingly evident to the Garthamlock, Craigend, and Gartloch Community Council that addressing mental health concerns was of utmost importance. As a result, the council took a proactive step towards supporting residents by funding a series of mat-based yoga sessions. In collaboration with YoGlasgow, a local yoga provider, these sessions aimed to improve the physical, emotional, and mental well-being of the community members. Best of all, these sessions were offered free of charge over an 8-week period throughout May – July 2023.
In a united effort to combat litter and improve the overall cleanliness of our local neighbourhood, the Garthamlock, Craigend, and Gartloch Community Council recognised the importance of active community participation. Understanding the significance of a cleaner environment, we requested the establishment of a community litter pick hub in Garthamlock. Through a collaborative partnership with GESH, the local community centre, our vision became a reality.
