Let’s ensure a safe and enjoyable Bonfire Night! ๐ŸŽ†

Fireworks and bonfires can pose serious safety risks, impacting our communities. To address this, a joint effort involving Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, Glasgow City Council, Police Scotland, and more partner agencies has established a protocol for identifying, reporting, and removing unsafe bonfires. Their goal is to reduce the misuse of fireworks and ensure public safety.

๐ŸŽฏ Their Aims:
Decrease public area bonfires and deliberate fire setting.
Minimise reckless firework use and identify those responsible.

๐ŸŽฏ Their Objectives:
Identify locations with unsafe bonfires.
Identify illegal firework possession and sales.
Educate young people about firework safety.

Bonfire Safety Tips:
๐Ÿก Keep bonfires away from buildings, trees, and power lines.
๐Ÿšซ Never use flammable liquids to ignite bonfires.
๐Ÿบ Avoid alcohol if you’re tending to a bonfire.
๐Ÿ”ฅ Use untreated wood for bonfires and avoid throwing fireworks on them.

๐Ÿšซ Remember the Law:
It’s illegal to lay or light a fire in a public place endangering others.
Possession and use of fireworks by those under 18 is unlawful.
Fireworks can only be used between 6 pm and 11 pm (except for 5th November).

๐Ÿ• Be mindful of pets and people with sensory sensitivities!

Full details of the initiative can be found below alongside key contact numbers for those who have concerns around the misuse of fireworks ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿฝ
