Weโ€™re delighted to share that, in partnership with Seven Lochs Wetland Park, weโ€™ve secured over ยฃ100,000 in grant funding under the Vacant and Derelict Land Fund to create designs for improvements to the Craigend Shops civic space ๐ŸŽ‰

This builds on the successful development of our Local Place Plan, which captured the priorities and aspirations of residents across Craigend. Now, weโ€™re moving forward with technical design work that will run from now until December 2025.

๐Ÿ‘€ Watch this space โ€” weโ€™ll be inviting you to share your ideas, join in local events, and help shape the future of Craigend. Community involvement will be central to ensuring the final designs reflect what residents and local businesses want to see.

๐Ÿ› ๏ธ This is just the first phase โ€” we fully expect to continue this work and move into construction in the near future, bringing real, visible change to the heart of Craigend.

Looking for a way to get kids playing outside safely, right on your doorstep? Street Play is back โ€” and it’s your chance to turn your road into a safe, traffic-free space where children can run, ride, and play freely.

What is Street Play?
Street Play gives communities the opportunity to temporarily close their roads to traffic for free, creating a safe, local space for children to play and neighbours to connect. Itโ€™s a simple idea that makes a big difference โ€” encouraging active play, outdoor fun, and stronger communities.

๐Ÿ—“๏ธ Upcoming Street Play Weekends:

  • 27โ€“29 June 2025 (Apply by 13 June)
  • 26โ€“28 September 2025 (Apply by 12 September)

Whether you’re a parent, a resident, or just someone who loves the idea of bringing the street to life, you’re invited to get involved.

Now that the Local Place Plan consultation is complete, weโ€™re moving forward with plans to try and improve local pathways in Gartloch! In February, we met with Seven Lochs to discuss enhancing the routes from Bishop Loch to Easterhouse, improving connectivity for local residents.

These discussions were productive, and we are now in the process of identifying/applying for funding to develop and improve these pathways. The Community Council has been working hard to support this improvement, and we remain committed to seeking further investment as more opportunities become available.

Weโ€™ll keep you updated when we have further news.
